SMART Programs

With a national vision on skilling, the SMART initiative by Tech Mahindra Foundation, focuses on diverse ways to reach the common objective. With many centers pan India, the initiative in Visakhapatnam with BCT operates through SMART centers at Dwarakanagar and Gajuwaka and SMART-T (Technical) center at Autonagar.

SMART-D

With 33 villages slowly being added into the GVMC, the need for up-skilling youth has never been greater. Going beyond the basic requisites of education, other basic skills that enhance employability are imparted here. Under the SMART program run by the Tech Mahindra Foundation, BCT partners through this center in Dwarakanagar. The short-term training programs are offered for students with basic education of tenth grade or more. This center runs with the objectives of providing training on Information Technology (IT) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools to urban underprivileged youth here. It also renders training on soft skills and conversational English such as to make the students ‘market ready’. Established in October 2014, the center has successfully provided short-term training to many students, with many benefitting from befitting placements as well.

SMART-G

Catering to the slums of Visakhapatnam district, especially in the industrial belt around Gajuwaka, RK Puram, Scindia, Pedda Gantyada, Kurmannapalem, Duvvada and sub-urban regions of Anakapalli and Paravada; the SMART-G center helps in up-skilling of youth in the region. Under the SMART program run by the Tech Mahindra Foundation, BCT partners through this center in Gajuwaka. The short-term training programs are offered for students with basic education of tenth grade or more. This center runs with the objectives of providing training on Information Technology (IT) and ICT tools to urban underprivileged youth of the region. It also renders training on soft skills and conversational English such as to make the students ‘market ready’. Established in 2017, the center has successfully provided short-term training to many students, with many benefitting from befitting placements as well.

SMART-T

During times when education provides literacy alone, and doesn’t render employability skills, this center aims to give quality technical education for unemployed youth. The short term training programs devised for students who have cleared basic education up to 10th grade or more (up to ITI/short term diploma). The students are provided NSDC complying Level 3 skill training on Electrical and Fitter skills, followed by effective placement support as well. With its operations starting in 2016, the center not only provides technical training but also offers training in soft skills and interpersonal skills as well. Operating out of Autonagar, Visakhapatnam, the center is well-equipped with the required training tools, and imparts classes through batch sizes of 30 students each.
